Welcome to the United States Marine Corps F-35B Joint Strike Fighter West Coast
EIS Website.
The Marine Corps proposes to provide the facilities and functions to support basing
and operation of the F-35B Joint Strike Fighter at West Coast installations. The
F-35B is a highly-advanced, next-generation aircraft designed to replace aging Marine
Corps squadrons of AV-8B Harriers and F/A-18 Hornets between 2012 and 2023. The
Marine Corps developed a range of five basing alternatives that distribute differing
combinations of 11 F 35B operational squadrons and 1 Operational Test and Evaluation
(OT&E) squadron between Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar in California and
MCAS Yuma in Arizona.
This site provides information about the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)

The Draft EIS available on this website describes the potential environmental impacts
of the proposed F-35B basing alternatives. The website provides information about
the EIS, Proposed Action, alternatives, environmental consequences, schedule, and
public involvement opportunities.
